Ever walk into a gym, and even though a sales person walked you through the machines, you look at them, scratch your head and think in your best Tim Taylor impression, “huhhh?” I know I have. Working out and taking good care of your body is a marathon, not a sprint, and no one would expect you to remember how to use every machine in the gym. So what to do? Some will ask other gym members, who may or may not know what they are talking about. Some will WATCH other gym members who may or may not be using the machinery correctly. Improper use of gym equipment can not only cause injury, but if used incorrectly just won’t do a thing for you, or worse, do the opposite of what your desired results are.
Hiring a professional trainer to help you in your wellness journey helps you achieve your desired results quicker, and they will instruct you the proper way to use all that equipment. Read on as Shelley Frost explains more, and remember to check out our Spotlight Member of the Month Mike LaCoss of GTX Cross Fit Personal Training. “A professional trainer teaches you the proper way to perform each exercise movement in your routine. She often demonstrates the movement and watches you perform it so she can correct any issues with your posture or technique. Learning how to perform exercises properly reduces your risk of injury. You also will be able to do the exercises on your own at home or at the gym after getting professional fitness instruction.”
